About
Alexandra (Alex) Griffin was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in April of 2000. With a long family background in horseback riding, Alex’s love for horses was not a big surprise. She started riding at Acts 2 Acres Equestrian Center, in Coconut Creek, Florida, under the instruction of Michelle Alvarez in 2011. Riding and showing sparked Alex’s interest first for photography, and then journalism, as she photographed many of her friends while riding, and was inspired by publications about horses like Noelle Floyd, the Plaid Horse and the Chronicle of the Horse. In 2014, Alex joined the Pompano Beach High School Newspaper staff as a Staff Writer and continued on into 2015 as the Web Editor and 2016 as Managing Editor of the Tornado Times. Alex also co-founded the Pompano Beach High division of Quill and Scroll Honor Society, and heads the honor society as President.
Despite her busy school schedule, Alex still makes time for her love for horses. Alex shows monthly at Palm Beach County Mounted Posse Supershows, and was circuit grand champion for the Limited Equitation in 2015. Living a short way from Wellington, Alex has the privilege of a plentiful amount of shows for all skill levels to participate in and audit.
